School lunches can produce a lot of waste! The average student in Ontario creates 30 kilograms of waste each school year just from their lunches. That’s about the weight of an adult goat!

Try packing your lunch in reusable containers instead of using plastic bags, aluminum foil or parchment paper. It saves money and helps the environment. By taking action, you can reduce waste, save trees and ecosystems, and conserve energy that is used to make disposable, single-use products.

Talk to your teacher about starting a “A Waste Reduction Week”. This could help your school reduce the amount of waste created and teach your school community about waste reduction.
